Sound familiar? You've noticed things aren't quite as sharp as they used to be. Street signs are getting a little blurry, or you're holding your phone at arm's length just to read a text. Don't worry – you're definitely not alone, and we're here to help!
Our friendly team of Optometrists can absolutely sort out those vision concerns. But here's something lots of people don't know – your eye test is so much more than just getting the right prescription. We also take a really thorough look at the health of your eyes, inside and out.
One of the coolest parts of your visit is when we take a photo of the back of your eye – the retina. Did you know that your retina is as unique as your fingerprint? No two are the same! The photo lets us see your macula, optic nerve and blood vessels in detail. Some people even have a little freckle or birthmark back there – how amazing is that?!
Having that photo on file is super valuable, because it gives us a baseline to compare against at future visits. Even tiny, subtle changes can be spotted early – and early detection is everything when it comes to conditions like macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma. These are conditions that can quietly steal your vision before you even notice anything is wrong, so catching them early really does make a huge difference.
Want to go even deeper? We also offer optical coherence tomography – or OCT for short. Think of it like an ultrasound for your eye. It lets us see all the individual layers of your macula and optic nerve in incredible detail – we're talking measurements to the precision of a micrometer! We can also compare the thickness of your nerve fibres to others your age, which helps us spot any early warning signs even sooner.

Here at Eyes at Narangba, we include ocular imaging as a routine part of your eye care – because we believe you deserve the very best for both your vision and your eye health. We can't wait to see you (pun absolutely intended)! 😄
